FAQ

Q: I have a question about my Pharmacare premiums, what drugs are on the provincial formulary or Pharmcare co-pays, who should I call?

Their fax number is 468-9402 and their mailing address is: P.O. Box 9322, Station “A”

Q. I am not a senior nor do I recieve community serivces benefits, is there a government drug plan for me?

A. Yes! All residents of Nova Scotia can qualify for Family Pharmacare. For more information on Nova Scotia’s Pharmacare programs, click here.

Q: Why does it take so long to fill my prescription?

A: Filling a prescription can be a complicated process. From the time you drop off your prescription to the time you pick up you medication your pharmacist will input the information into the computer system, check to make sure you are not on other medications that may interact with the medication, check to see if you have any allergies to that medication, make sure that it the appropriate dosage and regime for you and your condition, and more. Sometimes, the pharmacist may have to call your doctor for additional information not provided on the prescription. They may have to work with your health plan on any number of issues that may arise. Filling a prescription is much more than counting pills into a bottle and placing a label on it.
