Prescription Renewals
- If necessary laboratory test results are not up-to-date, this may impact prescribing decisions (including duration of prescription)
Birth Control Management
- The pharmacist will discuss with you your contraception needs and options (such as oral and injectable hormonal contraception)
- A pharmacist cannot prescribe birth control for other medical conditions (such as acne or migraines)
UTI (Urinary Tract Infection) Assessment and Prescribing
- For patients who are 16 years of age or older
- Patients must have had at least one UTI in the past
- For uncomplicated urinary tract infections. This means:
- Patient has a female reproductive system
- Infrequent UTIs
- No sign the infection has spread to the kidneys
Lyme Disease Preventive Treatment
- Tick bite occurred within past 72 hours and tick was attached for at least 36 hours
- Tick was a black legged tick
- Patient cannot be experiencing any symptoms of Lyme disease
Shingles Assessment and Prescribing
- It is important to book an appointment as soon as possible, medication needs to be started early to be effective
- You may be referred to another healthcare provider or the hospital emergency department if symptoms are more serious (e.g. Eye or neurological involvement)
