An ultimately harmless scalp condition that is caused by a variety of factors including dry skin, oily scalp, product sensitivities, genetics, or fungal involvement. Often, dandruff manifests in dry, small flakes of skin from the scalp that shed into the hair, eyebrows, or shoulders, and occasionally can be itchy or bothersome. This condition is especially common in infants (cradle cap), but is a common challenge for adults as well.
Dandruff can be difficult to manage alone, and sometimes medicated shampoos are warranted – pharmacists are available for general counselling, assessment, and prescribing.
