Sleep Disorders (Minor)

A disturbance of the normal sleep pattern. A pharmacist will discuss your sleep disturbances with you which often includes providing you with education on ways to improve your sleep schedule by breaking old habits that are leading to insomnia. The first line recommended treatment for insomnia is behavioral therapy although in some cases, a short term medication may be prescribed if deemed appropriate by the pharmacist. Symptoms may include:

  • Excessive daytime sleepiness
  • Difficulty getting to sleep
  • Difficulty staying asleep

There is no fee for this service with your valid Nova Scotia Health Card at Nova Scotia pharmacies and pharmacy clinics.
