High Demand Continues for Essential Healthcare Services at Pharmacies During Pandemic

Dartmouth, N.S. – Almost one in five Nova Scotians used pharmacies to obtain healthcare services since the COVID-19 Pandemic reached Nova Scotia almost one year ago.

Pharmacists in the province wrote more than 165,000 prescription renewals for patients in 2020.  This is on top of the almost 20,000 assessments done for shingles, urinary tract infections (UTIs) and birth control, and more than two hundred thousand flu shots.

Access to Healthcare Concerns are Rising in Nova Scotia: New Study

Dartmouth, Nova Scotia – A new study by Abacus Data has found that Nova Scotians’ concerns about access to healthcare in the province has increased 16 points since 2018. Of Nova Scotians surveyed, 86 percent expressed concerns about being able to access healthcare.  One-third of those surveyed said they were extremely concerned.
